Castro de Lobarzán Godello White is a mineral driven blend of Godello and Treixedura, offering pure fruit flavors, elegant intensity and bright acidity. The 2013 vintage was a cooler one that accentuated this wine’s natural acidity and minerality. The color is a brilliant straw hue, and the nose is rich with fresh pear and chalky and wet slate scents, accented by touches of lime peel, melon, green plum and baked apple. The palate is sleek, smooth and fresh. The tree fruit and citrus flavors are laced with a core of minerality. Crisp pear flavors and hints of savory herbs expand on the palate and lead into a long, bright and mineral laced finish.
Castro de Lobarzán is a small family winery built out of the grit, sand and soil of their vineyards in the village of Villaza in the Monterrei appellation in the region of Galicia, in the northwest corner of Spain. Their terroir-driven, mineral-oozing wines are made exclusively from grapes grown in their own vineyards, which they painstakingly tend, employing natural practices and a non interventionist philosophy.
