Adur 2014 is a very pale straw in color with a hint of green. The nose offers delicate apple, green plum and herb notes with hints of cut grass. The palate is crisp, bright and zingy with only just a hint of fizz. The harmonious mid-palate displays mineral and lime notes with a richness and intensity unusual for Txakoli. It finishes streamlined and long, with complex nuances. A beautiful expression of what the native Basque grape Hondarrabia Zuri can achieve when treated seriously.
Adur is a very small, vineyard-driven winery comprised of small plots set in the hills overlooking the seaside Basque town of Getaria in the north of Spain. Their dedication to their vineyards and non-interventionist approach make for a deeper style of Txakoli—more akin to single vineyard Sancerre than lighter more frizzante, traditional Txakoli.
